One of my very first followers, Maria, posted a request last month regarding her son's upcoming graduation. She wants to do something special before he joins the Marines. I have been thinking about that a lot lately, particularly since graduation season seems to be upon us. My husband is involved with Collegiate Ministry, and it amazes me how quickly the end of the semester is here. I'm going to miss the graduating Seniors. I have enjoyed their warmth, energy, and quirkiness. When they have come over, they have filled the house with laughter.
Tomorrow night is their end of the year picnic. So tonight my husband and I are in the kitchen prepping. He's over at the stove working on baked beans and homemade buttermilk pound cake (yes, I married a man who can cook and bake). And I decided to add a fun little treat to the festivities as well.
DISCLAIMER: This is Bakerella's idea. I deserve no credit. Check out her post for more info.
Aren't they yummy looking?
It amazes me that a few candies (in this case Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate and Peanut Butter squares, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Twizzler Pull & Peels, and Candy Buttons)...
Can have sticks added to them...
And turn into this...
Maria, I finally came up with an idea for a felt give-away. Now I just need to make, photograph it, and post it. But I promise it is coming.
And for everyone else, please let me know if there are specific projects you'd like to see. I can't make guarantees, but I'd love to know what interests and inspires you. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the new look. It is still a work in progress.

CJ, Oh My Gosh!! I thought you had forgotten everyday I take a peek twice a day, honestly I do. With work and all I have you in my thoughts, and was wondering did she forget should I ask again. How can I ever thank you enough, these graduation hats are great. I am going to try them this weekend. I am looking forward what idea you have. CJ Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Gracias! means Thank you in Spanish.
Hugs,
Maria
Dear CJ, I have only been following your blog since the weekend, but I was so thrilled when I discovered it and definitely did not want to miss out on any of your brilliant ideas. The grad.hats are super cute! If you ever come up with something dear for a sixtieth birthday, my mom's is coming up in August! Well done on a beutiful blog (PS I did like the photographs you used to have on your header!)
Warm regards, Joyful Mama (Cape Town, South Africa)
LOL CJ, you are so funny with your stalkers comment. I suppose many of us take such a keen interest in what you do we could be considered stalkers :o). My main interest is things to do with kids (parties, activities, clothes etc) and you pretty much cover those already but I'd love to see and hear about anything else you come up with!
Love those Graduation cap chocolates.
And I would be one of those stumble oppon people! But I am so glad I did! I love reading your blog!!
Thank you for all the great feedback. I have to say that looking at those photos from a different computer... wow, they look orange. That is the problem with taking photos at night under artifical light in a yellow kitchen. C'est la vie. Next time I'll edit them first.
Also, may I say that I love the diversity here... New Zealand, South Africa, the US... we're global. It's wonderful how we can now meet people on different continents that we never would have met before.
Maria... I am so sorry to have taken so long to post ideas for you. I am glad that you are still reading.
Joyful Mama... how exciting!! What types of things does your mother like? Does she have a favorite color? That is such an exciting milestone.
Cotton Kiwi... Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes it sounds like your life is a lot like mine. And I'm glad you liked the stalker reference. I admit that for a long time I stalked certain blogs but not as a follower... a loyal reader in the shadows. Perhaps I should have donned a trench coat and fedora.
Joanna... thanks for stumbling on. Come join the party, and let the craziness ensue.
Hi there,
I saw your link on New Friend Friday at The Girl Creative. Love the graduation hats! must remember that one to give it a try.
Have a great day
Those are super, super cute!!
Stopping by from New Friend Friday. I'm following you now! Hope you can stop by and follow me, too. :)

By the way, I'm starting a NEW BLOG HOP!!! It's called Tuesday Tag-Along, and it premieres this coming Tuesday! I hope you'll be there to join in the fun!
Congrats on reaching over 50 followers! Keep it up, and you'll have tons before you know it! Especially if you keep posting such yummy-looking pictures...drooooool. :)
Yes, isn't it amazing how small the world is nowadays!? Thanks for you enthusiasm. My mother will be retiring from her job as a librarian a few days after her sixtieth, and her passions in life are gardening, cross stitch embroidery and her two grandchildren (my infant son and toddler daughter). Her favourite colours are rich autumn colours, especially burn orange. For her birthday we are planning on a special treats day, starting with an art lesson in the morning (she has always wanted to paint), followed by a trip to the needlecraft store to spend some gift vouchers, then tea at a favourite cafe etc!
This are the cutest things! I will have to borrow this...
