Given my obsession with barrettes for my daughter's pigtails, I've been running out of space for hair bows. So, I decided to make a little partner monkey to go along with our current one. The result... two little monkeys hanging on the wall. (The one with the yellow ribbon is the original. The one with the pink ribbon and flower is the new one.)
The instructions are really simple. I was able to do this in less than an hour while watching a movie with my husband.
MONKEY HAIRBOW HOLDER
Supplies:
- Wooden Figure
- Thicker Ribbon for holding barrettes (go for something with texture so that the barrettes can hold)
- Thinner Ribbon for loop
- Felt, preferably a neutral color that matches the wooden figure
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
(NOTE: I'm trying a different way of posting instructions. Let me know what you think.)
Once you hot glue the flower and button on, you are done.
Now just hang it up and admire your work.
And if you are wondering, yes the barrettes are arranged by color, with all the holiday bows at the end. Have I mentioned that I have issues?

those are super cute. I LOVE monkeys and would love some for me... too bad I don't have any clips :)
Hello, nice post thanks for sharing?. I just joined and I am going to catch up by reading for a while. I hope I can join in soon.
Very cute. Your daughter must be older; mine would pull them down in a heartbeat...but a great idea when she gets older. Thanks for sharing with Made it Monday! Jules
Just Darling!
Thanks everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed.
Jules: She's 2 1/2. I started putting her hair in pigtails when she was 18 months. My husband laughed because she took them down constantly. Thankfully she's gotten used to them now and leaves them alone... but only then they are pigtails or a ponytail. If I leave her hair down, the barrettes come out immediately.
Oh how cute!! IT looks so sweet with all of those hairbows hanging off of it. I adore this. Although, what I really want to know is where do you get those beautiful bows in the first place. :)
I almost listed the source of all the barrettes in the picture when I originally posted.
Most of the korker bows are from Gymboree, but I am working on making my own (the yellow and white and the redskins). I'm hoping to post a tutorial for the yellow ones later in the week.
I've made all the felt barrettes. And the holiday ones have all been made by a woman in my Sunday School class. The others have come from various sources, such as local festivals and craft events.
very cute! I love the monkeys! : )
