I was originally inspired by Martha Stewart's Valentine Cookies. However, I decided to use Bake at 350's Brown Sugar and Spice recipe. I fell in love with this recipe at Christmas when I was baking cookies for a toddler cookie decorating party. These are so much better than traditional sugar cookies. I will admit that I am a little more generous with the nutmeg and allspice just because I love the flavors. I used Strawberry Jam for the filling.
My daughter helped me, that is until we hit the limit of her 2-year-old attention span. But she did have fun pouring in the ingredients.
After the cookies were done, I packaged them up in bags and attached a bag tag. I decided to use the same owl that I am using on my daughter's valentine cards.
Here's a better image of the tags:
As a hint, come back tomorrow and I'll tell you how these cookies also inspired another project...
I'm loving your packaging!
ReplyDeleteI am really wanting to make your felt tea bags that you featured a couple of posts back. Will you be doing a tutorial this week? I hope so! Julie in St. Louis
ReplyDeleteJulie... I absolutely am going to be posting a tutorial for the tea bags soon. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteI love to bake cookies, yours are really nice, the bag idea is great. I am sure the teachers and staff will like to keep them forever, I would.

CJ,
ReplyDeleteThank you! I started the cookies last night for my 3 year old daughter, and they turned out perfect! Thanks for the inspiration. I found you from Making the World Cuter, and now have you marked in my craft blogs as well. Julie in St. Louis
Thank you to everyone. I truly appreciate the sweet comments and support.
ReplyDeleteJulie... tomorrow I will have some other felt cookies posted (no tutorial though). I'm aiming to have the tea bag tutorial out Wednesday or Thursday. Thanks for the encouragement. I am so glad that you liked the cookies.
What a cute tag - love the owl! and the cookies look delish.

I will be making cookies but we have a question on the label, how did you make the label with ordinary paper or construction paper?
ReplyDeleteMaria & Ruth
Maria & Ruth... I just used cardstock. I cut it down with my paper cutter (because I am incapable of cutting a straight line). My labels were 4 inches wide by 3 inches high (or 1.5" when folded).
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you all enjoy these.
I love your packaging!!! How sweet! ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link. :)
