A Guitar Man

Have you noticed that there are a lot of clothes out there with electric guitars?  Only problem... we're an acoustic family.

It's one of Daddy's hobbies.  It's something that his little girl loves to help with, and something I imagine that his little man will want to share in as well.

So here's a special onesie for our future musician....

This was by far the most complex freezer paper stencil I have done to date.

Oh that little man of mine!  Doesn't he have a great smile!

Definitely a guitar player on our hands, and a little cutie.  Want to do your own freezer paper stenciling?  Check out the tutorial below.  But be forewarned... it's addictive.

ACOUSTIC GUITAR TUTORIAL
Supplies:

Directions:
  1. Find your design.  I chose a guitar from Clip Art and increased it to the size I wanted for the onesie.  For this, I focused on the neck of the guitar.
  2. Trace your design onto freezer paper.  I decided to elongate the lines in the neck because all those little boxes were going to be frustrating.
  3. Cut out the design.  If it helps, color in the parts you are cutting out or keeping to help you remember what to cut and what to keep.  Also, keep track of the small pieces.  For example, in this design, there were a lot of inserts to keep.
  4. Iron the design to your material.
  5. Insert freezer paper or paper bag scraps underneath the material (i.e. inside the onesie) to prevent bleeding.
  6. Using matte fabric paint, paint your design.  I wanted a somewhat distressed look here, so I only did one coat.  However, do as many as you need for your design.
  7. Let the paint dry.  After it is dry, peel the freezer paper away.  Lay a piece of fabric on top and lightly iron to set the design.
  8. Enjoy!
